PLDT Global rolls out cash-in solution in Hong Kong for OFW convenience

PLDT Global Corporation (PLDT Global), the international arm of the Philippines’ leading telco and digital services provider PLDT Inc. (PLDT) has rolled out several initiatives to uplift the lives of Filipinos in Hong Kong.

“As we celebrate Philippine Independence Day, we hope to give our fellow Filipinos in Hong Kong the freedom to enjoy their hard-earned money and send it to their loved ones hassle-free. We want to empower them and their families by bringing in digital solutions that improve their lives and strengthen their connection back home,” said Albert V. Villa-Real, President and CEO at PLDT Global.

To help overseas Filipinos in Hong Kong send their support seamlessly to their loved ones back home, TINBO (Tindahan ni Bossing) has brought in the newest cash-in solution for Filipinos in Hong Kong via the ePadala service. Through TINBO ePadala, powered by Starpay Corporation (Starpay), Filipinos overseas can directly send cash-in vouchers in P1000, P3000, or P5000 denominations to their family member’s electronic wallets and bank accounts for a very minimal transaction fee. This service is especially relevant, especially during emergencies when they need to immediately send financial assistance to their loved ones in the Philippines.

Powered by PLDT Global, TINBO is the one-stop online marketplace that enables Filipinos living overseas to buy load, pay bills, send food vouchers, e-gifts, healthcare vouchers from mWell, and even gaming PINs for their families in the Philippines. TINBO also provides overseas Filipinos access to a convenient and secured online bills payment platform for their Philippine utilities, and other digital services like the Smart Virtual Number that they can use while outside the Philippines.

“We are happy to have found a likeminded partner in TINBO and PLDT Global who help us reach more Filipinos worldwide and help them shift to convenient and secure digital financial services,” said Ryan Uy, Growth and Marketing Head at Starpay.

Backed by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas-regulated Starpay, ePadala employs a secure transaction process to ensure the safety of funds and personal information, as well as daily and monthly transaction limits to avoid possible abuse or fraud.

With the launch of the TINBO ePadala service, powered by Starpay, TINBO hosted a program at Chater Road Hong Kong during the 126th Celebration of the Philippine Independence Day, in collaboration with the Consulate of the Philippines in Hong Kong headed by Consul General Germie Usudan. During the program, roundtrip tickets were given to two (2) lucky overseas Filipinos, as well as collectible items to new TINBO registrants. TINBO ePadala service, powered by Starpay, will soon be available in other countries.

A heart for OFWs

With a heart for overseas Filipinos, TINBO together with PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF), Metro Pacific Investments Foundation, Inc. (MPIF), One Meralco Foundation (OMF) and Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan turned over a ₱1 million-peso donation to Full Phils Association, a non-profit organization founded by 16-year old Lauro Emilio Baja, with the mission of empowering overseas Filipinos in Hong Kong by providing scholarships through online education. The donation will fund the enrollment fees of selected OFWs who would like to finish their college education online with the organization’s partner learning institutions in the Philippines.

A former OFW himself, Chairman Pangilinan has always supported initiatives that benefit these modern-day heroes. “Overseas Filipino workers are among the most important constituents of the country’s economy and we are glad to have this opportunity to help our kababayans improve themselves through education and hopefully uplift their lives as a result.”

Present during the event were PLDT Global COO Edith Gomez-Cudiamat, PSF President Esther O. Santos, MPIF President Melody Del Rosario, and OMF President Jeffrey Tarayao, along with Full Phils Founder Emilio Baja and executives Grace Baja and Lauro Baja, and the scholarship beneficiaries.

“Chairman MVP has often shared his experiences as an OFW in Hong Kong, that’s why we deemed it valuable to celebrate Independence Day this time around with our brothers and sisters here. We are grateful for the help of the leaders from the companies under the MVP group that made this event possible,” said Santos.

These initiatives to expand relevant digital services that benefit Filipinos living overseas is a fundamental part of the much broader PLDT commitment to serve and lift the quality of life of Filipinos everywhere.
